Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere took to Twitter to apologise for the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal went 2-0 down at the Amex Stadium before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang halved the deficit, but that couldn’t prevent the Gunners suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.

Wilshere has made 16 Premier League appearances this season, having recovered from a leg fracture suffered in April 2017 during a loan spell with Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old played a full 90 minutes against Brighton but underwhelmed along with the rest of the team. He’s so far operated as a deep-lying midfielder alongside Granit Xhaka but the pair haven’t managed to click.
Arsenal’s form has gone to pieces in 2018, with Arsene Wenger’s men suffering eight defeats in all competitions, so Wilshere’s apology won’t exactly heal any wounds.
Nevertheless, supporters normally react positively to a player holding their hands up after a poor showing, which is important given the fractured relationship between the fans and the club.
Wilshere and the rest of the Arsenal side next travel to the San Siro to face AC Milan in the last-16 of the Europa League. They’ll be desperate to arrest the slide, but it won’t come easy.
