Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed former Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson has recently offered his support, with the Gunners boss admitting health issues caused over the club’s poor form, reports The S*n.

Wenger has admitted to not sleeping well and feeling “disastrous” due to his broken-down relationship with the supporters. Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League table, out of the title race, out of the FA Cup and lost in the League Cup final.

Unless they go all the way in the Europa League, the Gunners could end the season trophyless and out of the Champions League for a second consecutive campaign. This has led to a lot of fan vitriol, and Wenger said Ferguson has got in touch with him to offer his support.

“I have a good relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson at the moment. Sometimes he sends me a message when things don’t go well. There is a solidarity,” he said to Sky Sports.

“I always support other managers where I can. There is no possibility not to suffer. You have to suffer. The difficulty in this job is to be capable to go periods where it very difficult.”

Arsenal are coming off the back of a morale-boosting win over AC Milan in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday, so they’ll be full of confidence ahead of their home meeting with Watford on Sunday afternoon.

They currently sit 13 points adrift of the top-four places and 33 behind leaders Manchester City. Fifth-placed Chelsea are eight points clear of them in the table too, meaning a sixth-placed finish looks on the cards in May.
