According to Sport1, former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has turned down the chance to replace Jupp Henyckes as Bayern Munich manager and is in talks with Arsenal over replacing Arsene Wenger.

Kicker are confident the 44-year-old will be Wenger’s successor, saying this morning that ‘Tuchel’s new employer is based in the Premier League and is called Arsenal’.

There is a potential issue that may prevent a deal being agreed, however. Arsenal recently appointed Sven Mislintat as Head of Recruitment, who only left former club Dortmund due to a fallout during his time working with Tuchel. It’s unknown if the pair would be willing to work together again.

Tuchel has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time, however, being linked with the Gunners all the way back in 2016. Wenger has less than 18 months left on his deal with the club but there’s a feeling he could leave at the end of the season due to how poor Arsenal have fared in 2017/18.

The club are looking for his replacement, with seven managers named as potential candidates in February, but there appears to be no one definitive name Arsenal are desperate to appoint.

Tuchel wouldn’t be a bad bet, however, having won 68 of his 108 games in charge of Dortmund between 2015 and 2017. He also won the DFB-Pokal in his final season.

The 44-year-old is also currently unattached which means there would be no compensation to work out with another club. Time will tell if this is the manager Arsenal have in mind to replace Wenger.
