According to Diario Gol, Arsenal are keen on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, although the Gunners aren’t willing to meet Los Blancos’ asking price. The 30-year-old has been linked to Arsenal for years without any movement being made and its hard to see Arsene Wenger signing him now.

Benzema has been short of form this season, scoring only four goals in 22 La Liga games. He’s been in and out of the side in recent weeks too, coming off the bench against Espanyol in February and in Saturday’s win over Eibar. Arsenal aren’t shopping for an attacker so it’s unlikely they want Benzema.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck as their options up front, signing a 30-year-old out-of-form striker isn’t going to appeal to them especially for the price being quoted. Diario Gol say Real president Florentino Perez wants £53m for Benzema, which Arsenal aren’t going to meet.

The French international, who has scored 189 goals in 398 games since his move from Olympique Lyonnais, has three years left on his deal. It’s unlikely he will see out his contract if his diminishing form continues, limiting the chances a club like Arsenal spend a sizeable amount to procure his signature.
