Preview: Arsenal vs Fulham – prediction, team news, line-ups

Arsenal will be looking to register their third successive Premier League win when they welcome Fulham to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners will enter the contest on the back of 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last week.

It wasn’t a vintage performance from Mikel Arteta’s men but they showed great resilience to seal full points from the home encounter.

Martin Odegaard broke the deadlock with a cool penalty early in the second-half but they were forced to play with 10-men after Takehiro Tomiyasu received his marching orders in the 67th minute.

Palace tried to make their numerical superiority count but the hosts held out to claim full points in the end.

On the other hand, Fulham endured a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Brentford last weekend following their 1-0 success at Everton in the Premier League opener.

The Cottagers were woeful in defence and the Bees took full advantage of their defensive frailties.

Yoane Wissa capitalised on the mistake of Issa Diop to open the scoring before Bryan Mbeumo doubled their advantage from the penalty spot in the 66th-minute.

The penalty was conceded by Tim Ream who also left the field for his second bookable offence of the game.

Mbeumo added another in the injury-time with a simple tap-in as Brentford ran out 3-0 winners.

Match Preview

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal will aim to mount another Premier League title challenge this season.

They led the table for the majority of the 2022-23 campaign only to lose the title to Manchester City after a late collapse.

The Gunners were far from convincing in the first two matches against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. But they fought hard in both games and picked up full points to maintain their 100 percent record.

Marco Silva led Fulham to a superb 10th-place finish last season. The Portuguese boss will be looking for another strong finish this term, but early signs are not encouraging at all.

The Cottagers were lucky to come away with a 1-0 victory at Everton in their league opener, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s late strike proving decisive.

The West Londoners then suffered a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Brentford in their latest top-flight match.

Team News

Mikel Areteta will be without the services of Tomiyasu on Saturday due to the red card he received against Palace in the latest Arsenal news

Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Jesus and Folarin Balogun will also sit out the home game as they are all recovering from their respective injuries.

As for Fulham, they will only be missing Ream who will serve his suspension this weekend.
