Opinion: Best young players Arsenal can buy in January

Without a doubt, Arsenal were one of busiest clubs in the Premier League over the course of the just concluded summer transfer window but it is quite certain the North London club will be looking to recruit more talent in January.

After signing Thomas Partey, their last new arrival, from Atletico Madrid for £45m on deadline day, the Gunners looked well reinforced and the club manager Mikel Arteta felt satisfied.

Before Partey’s arrival, the Gunners had also brought in Brazilian forward Willian from Chelsea, Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille and goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson from another Ligue 1 side Dijon and the team looked better equipped to do better than last season.

With a busy Premier League schedule and Europa League inevitable in the coming weeks, attention at the Emirates will now be on the football itself.

However, with no under-21 in their latest arrivals and the January transfer window not too far away, there are chances Arsenal will be aiming to add a few young players to the team in the next transfer window.

With that in mind, here are the best young talents the Gunners could buy when the transfer window opens in January.

Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes)

It is evident Arteta wants to sign a creative midfielder and after failing to secure Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar during the summer transfer window, Eduardo Camavinga could be a very good option to consider.

Camavinga who featured in Rennes Champions League debut on Tuesday night before substituted in the 81st minute is capable of playing multiple roles in the middle of the park. As a wonderkid, he would be a good fit into Arteta’s side.

Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig)

The 21-year-old defender has been well impressive at RB Leipzig since he arrived at the club in 2017 and recording a total of 87 Bundesliga appearances for the German side, including four starts in the current campaign.

It is reported that Arsenal have had their eyes on the France Under-21 international who has the attribute of a dominant and possessive defender. The January transfer window will be another opportunity for the Gunners to make their interest official.

Patton Daka (Red Bull Salzburg)

Mike Arteta have shown in recent games that he doesn’t seem convinced with the capabilities of Alexandre Lacazette and may be in the market for a new striker sooner than later and Patson Daka could be that man.

Although Eddie Nketiah has been promising, Arteta might be looking to add another option upfront. Daka who turned 22 earlier this month had been linked with both Spurs and Arsenal after scoring 27 goals in all competitions for RB Salzburg last season.

His pace, positioning and thirst for goals are enough traits to convince Arteta of making a move for the striker.
