According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal’s Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat has identified Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay who could replace Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey, with the two players having failed to agree terms on a new deal.

Demirbay joined Hoffenheim from Hamburger SV in 2016 and has gone on to make over 50 appearances in all competitions. The 24-year-old is an attacking-midfielder who has scored and created three goals in 12 league starts this season. He would bring an offensive threat to Arsenal if they lose two long-serving players.

Wilshere is out of contract at the end of the season and won’t agree to a reduced salary. Arsenal aren’t budging, however, and could let him go rather than offer an improved deal. Ramsey’s future is uncertain too. He’s out of contract in less than 18 months and hasn’t had an extension put on the table.

With interest growing in both players while Arsenal demise as a football club, they could well be tempted to opt for greener pastures. Wilshere has been linked with Everton while Ramsey has been linked with Manchester United and Juventus.

Demirbay would reportedly set Arsenal back around £20m, so it remains to be seen whether they will make a move this summer.
