According to The S*n, Arsenal are interested in RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi as a potential replacement for Petr Cech. The Gunners are stepping up their efforts to sign a talented shot-stopper as they could be losing two first-team goalkeepers next year.
Cech and David Ospina have less than 18 months to run on their contracts and it’s unlikely either player will be offered an extension. Cech has struggled for form ever since he joined from Chelsea in 2015, making numerous mistakes leading to goals, and will turn 36 in May.
Ospina has been second-choice to Cech for the last three seasons but is considering his future at Arsenal due to the lack of playing time. Emi Martinez could replace the Colombian after he returns from his loan spell at Getafe this season but the Gunners need somebody else for Cech.
Bernd Leno is high on Arsenal’s shortlist, with Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat tasked with landing his signature, but another Bundesliga player could be attracting their interest. Mislintat knows the top German division well and Gulacsi is highly-rated.
The 27-year-old has made 26 Bundesliga appearances this season, keeping three clean sheets in his last seven. The S*n say Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are keen, but both clubs have nailed down first-choice goalkeepers – Jan Oblak and Thibaut Courtois – so they may only move for the Hungarian international if they lose their own goalkeeper first.
