You have to feel sorry for Lucas Perez. After just one season at Arsenal, the 29-year-old was shipped back to his former club on loan but he’s now become a pariah as Deportivo look set for relegation, reports The S*n.
Lucas enduring an injury-hit debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium after his move from Depor but still managed to score and create 12 goals in 10 starts in all competitions.
It wasn’t enough to save him from the proverbial axe last summer, however, as the Spaniard returned to the Estadio Riazor after Olivier Giroud opted to stay at Arsenal.
But things have spiralled in La Liga for Lucas and he finds himself at a crossroads in his career. Depor fans have fallen out of love with him, spraying ‘Get out of our club’ in graffiti, but there may not be a place for him at Arsenal either.
He had to leave last August due to the competition for places in attack. The Gunners have since strengthened in the market, which forced Giroud to join Chelsea on deadline day in January.
Lucas doesn’t stand a chance of playing time next season with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang and Danny Welbeck vying for a starting place up front.
The 29-year-old might have to seek a permanent deal away from the Emirates in the summer.
