Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette scored his first Premier League goal since January against Stoke City on Sunday, taking his tally to nine in his debut season at the Emirates.

The 26-year-old joined from Olympique Lyonnais last summer but has struggled for consistency, leading the Gunners to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to bring more goals to the side.

Prior to Sunday, Lacazette had only managed one league goal for Arsenal since early December 2017 but he’s now boosted his confidence with a goal in between two Aubameyang penalties.

The French international has struggled with a knee injury in 2018, racking up just 54 minutes of Premier League football since the turn of the year, but he’s back in action for Arsenal now and could reclaim his starting place before the season comes to an end.

Lacazette still only has two goals in his last 12 league appearances, but his effort against Stoke could do wonders for his confidence. Manager Arsene Wenger will now have to devise a way to have both he and Aubameyang in the same starting lineup.

The Gunners next face CSKA Moscow in the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday. It’s unlikely Lacazette will be deemed fit enough to start but he should be in the squad.
