According to reports, Jack Wilshere reportedly rejected a new contract at Arsenal during the summer and he is set to leave the Emirates at the end of the current season.
The Sun claims Arsenal were willing to offer the 25-year-old a new deal in the summer but it was rejected by the midfielder who is still frustrated about being sent out on loan at Bournemouth last season.
A source close to Wilshere revealed to the newspaper that: “Arsenal didn’t want to loan him out again unless he signed a new contract — but he didn’t want to sign one.
“If Jack gets back into the Arsenal team on a regular basis and feels he is seriously part of the club’s plans, there is still a chance he might stay.
“However, as things stand, he is still of the view that he will be leaving at the end of the season.”
On Jack returning from injury, he has only completed 90 minutes this season which came in the Carabao Cup clash last week against Doncaster Rovers and he was played impressively.
Wilshere has been a fixture in the Gunners first-team for a number of years now but injuries have hindered his chances of starting on a regular basis.
The England international current contract at the Emirates Stadium runs out next summer, making him available on a free transfer.
A/A’s View:
This will not please anyone to see Wilshere leaving the club on a free at the end of the season. Although he has struggled to keep fit throughout his short playing career, Wilshere can still offer quality and he has the potential to be one of the finest player than Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka.
Losing Jack Wilshere will be a massive mistake for Arsenal but it can be a step in the right direction for the player as he can reignite his career and become a regular starter in the Premier League, boosting his chances of being selected for the England national team.
