Mesut Ozil has been ruled out of action for the next three months after a scan on his left knee revealed he has suffered ligament damage.
The injury was sustained during the game against Chelsea on Sunday and even though he felt pain during the game he played on. Ozil notified the injury team after the game and informed that he was in pain but the general concensus was there wasn’t anything ‘overly serious’ to be worried about but they did inform the German Federation of the injury.
The injury was confirmed after Ozil travelled to Germany on Tuesday to join the national team to train before the qualifiers. On arrival Ozil complained of pain in his right knee and he was sent to the hospital this morning to have a scan which revealed the extent of his injury. He chose to see trusted doctor Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt and he confirmed this:
“He has suffered a partial rupture of the outer band of the left knee joint. The treatment is conservative, with six weeks of immobilization of the knee joint. Mesut Ozil is likely to be out for ten to twelve weeks.”
It is a big blow for the German Midfielder who has been under increased pressure to perform in recent weeks and this injury is only setting him further back in his already tough start to the season.
As for Arsenal, you have to question once again why this injury was missed and whether this injury had occurred before the Chelsea game. The injury team should have assessed this issue immediately and they have failed to do their jobs correctly in this instance. If it was a one off then it could be forgiven but this is a regular occurence now.
We are in the midst of a terrible injury spell once again and this has to be addressed by the club immediately as it’s not normal. Whether it’s the rumoured harsh and out of date training sessions that Wenger is commanding or by coincidence we only buy injury prone players, or the medical and injury team are completely failing on every level whatever the reason of there needs to be an actual investigation into why this is a regular occurrence.
I don’t know a club in the world that has suffered as many injuries as we have in the last few years, sadly it’s the reason(excuse) that’s used every year to why we haven’t done better, or why we didn’t compete for the league and it’s tiring. A fully fit Arsenal for 90% might actually stand a chance of winning something a bit more prominent than a lucky FA Cup win.
I don’t know the inside out of Arsenal’s training methods or the injury team or the fitness levels of our players so I don’t know the reason to why our injury list is bigger than our transfer budget but I think it is an amalgamation of all of all of those reasons alongside the departure of Gary Lewin.
Things haven’t been the same since he left and the injuries have just spiralled out of control. We are currently without Ozil, Walcott, Ramsey, Diaby again, Arteta again, Debuchy, Giroud, Sanago and Gnabry.
The worst thing about these injury crisis’s Arsenal keep enduring is that after all this time Wenger is never prepared for them and the fans are left wondering why?
