Former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars is reportedly set to return to the club at the end of the season.
Overmars is currently the director of football at Dutch giants Ajax and has regularly been linked with a switch back to Arsenal to take up the same role.
According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Overmars has now agreed to join Arsenal and will leave Ajax at the end of the season to head to north London.
Overmars turned out for the Gunners as a player between 1997 and 2000, before he left to join La Liga giants Barcelona.
Arsenal have received high criticism for failings regarding player recruiment and retention in recent years and could be looking towards Overmars to make the difference.
Both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are into the final 12 months of their respective deals at the Emirates and could well leave the club soon.
Overmars, 44, was appointed director of football at Ajax in 2012 and during his time in the role the Amsterdam giants have won two Eredivisie titles.
