Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil turned 29 today – but the club official Twitter account probably should’ve thought twice before wishing him many happy returns earlier today.

The German playmaker was once a fans’ favourite at the Emirates after he joined the club from Real Madrid for £42 million back in the summer of 2013, but the playmaker reputation has drop straight down at high speed amongst Gooners in recent months.

Ozil’s peformance during the second-half of last season were heavily criticised among fans, and his refusal to put pen to paper on a new deal has definitely not gone down too well either.

His current deal runs out in June 2018, and he’s been linked with former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, but whatever happens it seems increasingly unlikely that his relationship with Arsenal supporters will ever be mended.
