According to The Sun, Everton are ready to launch an audacious January bid to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

After years upon years of poor transfer spending, Everton haven’t been shy in splashing the cash over the last 12 months. After a significant summer outlet backing doomed manager Ronald Koeman, it seems the club aren’t done with the ambitious spending and are ready to launch their most high profile bid yet.

As reported by the Sun, the Toffees are interested in signing the Chilean this January, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The newspaper reveals that he’s become a number one target for the club owner Farhad Moshiri, despite being recommended other targets by the club’s scouting team.

The report adds that Moshiri wants a big name and is targeting a £30m move for the Chilean international. Wondering what are the the best free bets offers for Everton signing Sanchez in the summer? Ladbrokes has got you covered.

Everton may have ambitions to sign talents like the Chilean but it seems incredibly unlikely it will happen anytime soon. Luring Wayne Rooney back to the club was one thing, but signing a player like Sanchez in his prime when he has ambitions to play for a UEFA Champions League team seems a step beyond.

There’s no doubt Sanchez would be a sensation at Everton, the Chilean 74 goals and 45 assists for Arsenal across 153 appearances is proof of that.

However, any potential Toffees pursuit could be distracting. Currently in the relegation zone, their season is at serious risk of verging into disaster territory and they need to get January recruitment right, which will take hard work and a laser focus.
