According to the Mirror, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a target for Chelsea as his future at the Emirates Stadium remains uncertain. The 27-year-old is out of contract with Arsenal in less than 18 months but appears to closer to signing a new deal. As a result, the Blues could make a move this summer.

Ramsey has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season and has been one of Arsenal’s better players, with the Welsh international scoring and creating 12 goals in 17 league starts, but playing time has been inconsistent of late due to injury problems.

The former Cardiff City midfielder has missed three of Arsenal’s last four league games against Tottenham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford but did get a full 90 minutes in Thursday’s Europa League last-16 victory over AC Milan.

He’s a key player but hasn’t yet got a new lucrative contract from the club, admitting to BT Sport: “Nothing to comment on at the moment. I think they’ve been busy to tie up other contracts at the moment.”

Chelsea are reportedly willing to meet his demands to bring him to Stamford Bridge to rebuild a side capable of winning the Premier League title again.

The Blues sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United and haven’t seen the best of ex-Monaco midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko which is why Ramsey has been linked. Ross Barkley has been injured ever since his January move from Everton, while Danny Drinkwater hasn’t hit top form when played either.

Chelsea will keep looking at Ramsey’s situation at Arsenal until it changes and could land the Welshman if the deal is right.
