According to the Express, Arsenal’s defensive duo Sead Kolasinac and Calum Chambers could return in time to fact Watford on Sunday afternoon, with the pair having taken part in training on Saturday.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was facing a selection headache with left-back Nacho Monreal and right-back Hector Bellerin ruled out through injury. Kolasinac and Chambers have deputised for the pair respectively, so their absence on Sunday would force Wenger into naming a makeshift backline.
But the pair were spotted in training ahead of the meeting with Watford which is good news for Arsenal. The Gunners are coming off the back of a win too, having beaten AC Milan at the San Siro in the Europa League on Thursday, so they’ll be full of confidence.
The Express believe Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles could have started as fullbacks if Chambers and Kolasinac didn’t return, but Arsenal have been given good news ahead of their grudge match with the Hornets.
The Gunners and Watford have bad blood after striker Troy Deeney criticised Arsene Wenger’s side after beating them in a Premier League fixture. Arsenal will be determined to punish him for his words, but Watford will give them a fight. The last thing Wenger needed as more injuries to his defence.
