Arsenal vs Southampton preview, team news, line-ups and prediction

Arsenal are scheduled to host Southampton at the Emirates Stadium in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.

The Gunners have been in a dreadful run of form in the Premier League and they have picked up just one point from the previous five games.

As a result, they are languishing in the 15th spot with just 13 points, 12 adrift of arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are top of the table.

On Wednesday, they will come up against the Saints and it could be another testing challenge for them with their recent lack of goals.

The South Coast outfit have been hugely impressive after 12 games and they are flying high in the fourth on the table with 23 points.

A draw looks to be a solid bet with https://www.onlinecasinosnoop.com/ and other bookmakers, as you don’t expect Arsenal to keep sliding but the Saints are a tough proposition and could easily come away with a point, if not all three.

Key Stats:

Arsenal have lost their previous four matches in their home ground and that constitutes their worst sequence in the league since 1959.

The north London giants have struggled in front of goal and have netted just twice in the previous eight top-flight matches.

Arsenal have an impressive home league record against the Saints and have not lost since 1987 when they were beaten 1-0.

The Gunners have scored at least two goals in each of their previous five meetings against the Saints (three wins, one draw and one defeat).

Team News:

Arsenal:

The Gunners are expected to be without Hector Bellerin and Granit Xhaka due to suspensions. Thomas Partey has been ruled out with a thigh problem while Gabriel Martinelli may not feature as he is working his way back to full fitness after a long-term ankle injury.

David Luiz’s involvement may depend on a late fitness test. The Brazil international has returned to training after a clash of heads with Raul Jimenez last month where he suffered a deep laceration to the head. Elsewhere, the club will welcome Nicolas Pepe back to Premier League action after a three-match domestic ban.

Southampton:

The visitors have no injury concerns whatsoever and manager Ralph Hassenhuttl has a full squad to pick from.

Predicted Line-ups:

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kieran Tierney; Dani Ceballos, Mohamed Elneny; Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Bukayo Saka; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Southampton (4-4-2): Alex McCarthy; Kyle Walker-Peters, Jan Bednarek, Jannik Vestergaard, Ryan Bertrand; Stuart Armstrong, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond; Che Adams, Danny Ings

Predicted Score:

Arsenal will come up against one of the in-form teams in the Premier League and they are firing upfront with Ings and Adams netting a combined 10 goals.

The Gunners have managed the same tally from their first 12 matches and will need a huge performance tomorrow from Aubameyang, who has not netted from open play since October. Still, we are only fancying a high-scoring draw.

Arsenal 2-2 Southampton
