Arsenal welcome AC Milan to the Emirates Stadium in the second leg of the Europa League last-16 on Thursday evening, only needing to avoid defeat by more than one goal to ensure of their place in the quarter-finals.
The Gunners won 2-0 at the San Siro and are big favourites to reach the final eight this week as a result. Manager Arsene Wenger will be a lot more confident with his side in better form than they area ahead of the first leg.
Arsenal have won consecutive games in all competitions without conceding a goal prior to the visit of Milan, and a strong squad is expected to be named due to the Europa League being the Gunners’ only chance of getting Champions League football next season.
Wenger’s side recently lost two on the bounce on home soil, but a convincing 3-0 win over Watford will boost confidence. The Londoners have won four of their previous six at the Emirates while Milan have won five of their last half a dozen away games in all competitions.
This last-16 tie may not be over given how strong the Rossoneri have been on their travels of late, but Arsenal will be desperate to finally make it past the last-16 in Europe after falling short for the last seven years.
