Arsenal Transfer News: Five Major Transfers To Expect This Summer

Arsenal

After missing out on European qualification for the first time in 25 years, Arsenal will be desperate to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal are already outside of the bookmakers’ betting favourites to qualify for the Champions League next season and will need substantial squad improvements to convince VietVwin and other bookmakers to improve their betting odds.

Luckily, Mikel Arteta’s recruitment team has already started to piece together the plan for the transfer campaign, with several outcasts expected to make room for new faces.

Matteo Guendouzi

Following a decent season-long loan at Hertha BSC, Guendouzi is destined to leave the Emirates for good this summer, with Marseille in the driving seat to capture his signature.

The Ligue 1 side already saw their loan proposal knocked back by Arsenal. The Gunners are looking for around £12.9million.

After playing a prominent role under Unai Emery, Guendouzi has tumbled down the pecking order under Arteta due to disciplinary issues and has no future in North London.

Guendouzi’s contract runs out at the end of next season, and Arsenal want to cash in on his departure this summer.

Granit Xhaka

Xhaka has emerged as Jose Mourinho’s prime target as the Portuguese manager hopes to put his own stamp on the Roma squad he inherited from Paulo Fonseca.

Despite forcing his way back into the squad after having had a falling out with the previous boss Emery, the Swiss midfielder has blown hot and cold this season and could be on the move this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma will have to stump up around £17.2m to convince the Gunners to sell the 28-year-old, who has recently admitted he is flattered by the ex-Tottenham tactician’s interest.

Martin Odegaard

A return to one goal and two assists from 14 Premier League appearances could sound deceitful as Odegaard has come closest to impacting Arsenal’s game the way Mesut Ozil did.

The Norwegian playmaker has been a rare bright spot in the Londoners’ underwhelming season, and Arteta has named the 22-year-old his number one priority for the summer.

Real Madrid have every intention to prevent Arsenal from signing their in-form loanee permanently and have already slapped a staggering £52m price tag on Odegaard’s head.

Yves Bissouma

With Liverpool withdrawing themselves from the race for Bissouma, the Gunners remain the lone runners for Brighton’s star midfielder.

The 24-year-old has a hefty £50m price tag pinned to his name, which could throw a spanner in the works, though Arteta sees him as an upgrade on his current midfield options.

Emi Buendia

The EFL Championship Player of the Season is one of the most sought-after players in English football, with Aston Villa and Arsenal going head-to-head for Buendia’s services.

Norwich are unlikely to keep hold of their standout performer, who can cover multiple positions in the front third.

Buendia, 24, has played a pivotal role in helping the Canaries regain the Premier League status with 15 goals and 17 assists in the 2020/21 Championship season.
