Arsenal are set to “actively” try and find a buyer for contract rebel Mesut Ozil in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.
The British media is reporting that Arsenal have now given up hope of the 29-year-old playmaker signing a new deal with the north London club.
The German’s future has been a relentless source of news in recent weeks after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Ozil said that he wanted to stay at Arsenal back in the summer but there is yet to to be any official announcement of a new deal for Ozil at Arsenal.
The same report from the source says that the Gunner have offered him a new contract worth £275,000 a week, but Ozil is demanding as much as £350,000 a week to sign a new deal at the club.
The report claims that the German’s days at Arsenal “are numbered” but it also suggests that Ozil could struggle to find a club willing to buy the playmaker in January.
Arsenal, who are nine points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League, return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they take on Red Star Belgrade.
