According to Bild, Napoli and Arsenal are interested in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno. The 26-year-old joined Leverkusen from Vfb Stuttgart in 2012 and has gone on to become one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal would have to pay around £22m for the German shot-stopper, as per his release cause. With Petr Cech having struggled for consistency ever since his 2015-move from Chelsea, the Gunners need an able replacement. Leno has kept only seven clean sheets in 25 league games this season but does come highly-rated.

Bild’s report says Napoli could be a stumbling block in Arsenal’s pursuit to sign Leno, with the Serie A side having been keen on the 236-year-old for a year. With Leno stating he would only leave Leverkusen to be first-choice abroad, Napoli are hoping they can convince him to the Stadio San Paolo by making him their no.1 goalkeeper.

Arsenal would also be looking to sign Leno as a first-teamer, but with Cech still having 18 months left on his deal, there’s no guarantee Leno would replace him in the summer, rather than in 2019. Napoli’s Pepe Reina is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning there’s a void for the German international to fill.
