Arsenal and Manchester are both preparing bids for Santos striker Yuri Alberto, according to reports. The 16-year-old has top form at youth level for Santos and has been scouted by several top European clubs during his appearances for Brazil’s Under-17 team.

According to the Sun, it claimed that Arsenal and United have already been in touch with his agent and the two Premier League teams will continue to monitor his progress. Santos value their teenage striker at £37.5 million after he netted 51 goals across 32 games at youth level last year.

A source close to the Brazil Under-17 international told The Sun: ‘United and Arsenal are very keen on Yuri. They watched him when Brazil played in England earlier this year. ‘His agent has been contacted and told by both the Premier League clubs they will be watching him over the coming months.’

In July, Alberto signed his first professional contract with Santos but he has not yet made his senior debut for the Brazilian club. Juventus, Inter and Roma have also been linked with a move for the Brazilian.

Yuri stands at nearly 6 fee tall and has not been compared to either former-Santos legends Pele or Neymar Jr.

Should the report be accurate and that we are indeed stepping up our interest in the young Brazilian, Arsenal could face competition from Italian giants Juventus, Internazionale and Roma who are all strongly linked with the player too and are by no means shy in terms of player recruitment.
