Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to tie Mauro Icardi down to a new deal as they believe the Argentine’s £99m release clause is too low for the current market.

Icardi only signed a new contract with the Nerazzuri a year ago but the San Siro outfit are already trying to get him to sign a new one, according to Italian source Calcio Mercato via talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old currently has a £99m (€110m) release clause and Inter deem this too low in today’s transfer market.

Luciano Spalleti’s side therefore allegedly willing to give him a pay raise if he signs a new contract with a £134m (€150m) release clause.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the only clubs that have been linked with Icardi so presumably, if true, the new release clause would be to fend them off.

The striker has until 2021 on his current deal with Inter and so far, the Argentine has scored a whopping nine goals in eight Serie A appearances this season, which is handy since he’s the Italian club’s only out-and-out striker.

Inter are second in the table just two points behind Napoli at the top so one can imagine that they’ll do everything they can to tie their main man at the club.
