Alexis Sanchez’s Arsenal teammate Chuba Akpom has revealed how the former Barcelona player is getting stick after his failed move to Manchester City.

The Chilean’s proposed move to The Etihad collapsed on deadline day last month. The Gunners had accepted a £60m bid for him, but their targeted replacement Thomas Lemar turned down a move from Monaco.

Sanchez started his first Premier League game for Arsenal against West Bromwich Albion on Monday since the transfer saga. Team-mate Chuba Akpom claims Sanchez has been on the receiving end of some mock by members of the Arsenal squad.

The England Under-21 international told the Daily Star: “We do banter about it to be fair.

“But at the end of the day, he’s still at Arsenal.

“Everyone is happy, the fans are happy and he’s happy.

“I think with a player like Sanchez he just blocks it out because all he wants to do is play football.

“He’s so focused on football, he blocks out a lot of negativity and transfer rumours.”

Alexis Sanchez linked up well with the club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette in their first start together on Monday night. It’s 2/3rd’s of the forward line we all have been anticipating for – the last piece in the trio is of course Mesut Ozil who made his return by starting off the bench late on.

Wenger could finally start Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil when we host Brighton on Sunday.
