Ousmane Dembele was absent from PSG training today, doubtful for Arsenal game

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele was absent from team training today and is a doubt for the second-leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal next Wednesday, according to Fabrice Hawkins – a journalist with French outlet RMC Sport.

PSG take on Strasbourg on Saturday in the Ligue 1, and the 27-year-old is not expected to feature.

The Frenchman bagged the winner against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday but was withdrawn due to a knock in the second-half.

It is believed Dembele sustained a hamstring injury, but PSG have refused to officially disclose the severity of his injury yet and are hoping he will be available against the Gunners.

Arsenal are hoping to turn things around when they visit Parc des Princes to take on PSG next week, and not having to face the former Barcelona star will be a much-welcomed boost.

Dembele has weighed in with 33 goals and 12 assists across all competitions so far this term, opening the scoring less than four minutes into the game against the North London club.

The Gunners were without some of their best players against PSG, with Thomas Partey missing due to suspension, but the Ghana international midfielder is set to return next week for the important second-leg as Mikel Arteta and his men aim to secure a place in the final of the elite European competition.

Jorginho, Riccardo Calafiori and Kai Havertz continued their individual training programmes today as they step up their recovery, and it remains to be seen whether any of them will be fit enough to travel with the team next week.

Arsenal return to action on Saturday when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League, and they could do with a morale-boosting win ahead of the PSG game.

The Gunners will also secure a place in the group stages of the Champions League next season with a victory against the Cherries, provided Chelsea lose to Liverpool on Sunday, and the fans will hope that happens.
