Mikel Arteta should play Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield vs PSG amid Riccardo Calafiori injury boost

Arsenal progressed to the last four of the Champions League following a 5-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid.

The Gunners outclassed Los Blancos in the quarter-final phase and should go into the semi-final ties with momentum.

Mikel Arteta’s side host Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium on April 29.

The second leg will be played at Parc des Princes eight days later.

Thomas Partey won’t be available for the home leg. He is suspended after his third yellow card of the European campaign.

Arsenal have a big void to fill with Partey’s absence. In our view, Myles Lewis-Skelly should move into the number six position.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation in his debut campaign. He has excelled with his inverted runs into midfield from left-back.

Lewis-Skelly was a defensive midfielder in the Arsenal academy and should comfortably slot into the position against Les Parisiens.

The youngster has won 70 percent of his duels in the Premier League this season, losing possession on just 4.7 occasions per game.

The £24 million-rated star has completed 60 percent of his dribbles with a passing accuracy of 94 percent. He should get the nod in midfield in Partey’s absence.

The possibility of this happening has increased as Riccardo Calafiori has returned to the grass after a minor knee injury on international duty last month.

Calafiori has shared his minutes with Lewis-Skelly over the course of the campaign.

The Italian may not be available to face Ipswich Town this weekend but could make a cameo appearance against Crystal Palace in midweek.

We won’t be surprised if he is named in the starting line-up at left-back against PSG this month if Lewis-Skelly is picked for the number six role.

Kieran Tierney could come in as a substitute for Calafiori after the hour mark.
