Arsenal without experienced winger due to suspension, three more at risk vs Real Madrid

Arsenal welcome Real Madrid to the Emirates Stadium for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tonight.

The Gunners go into the game as underdogs, but manager Mikel Arteta will expect a strong performance at home.

Arsenal have struggled with injuries over the campaign, and they will be without several big names tonight.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been ruled out for the season.

Riccardo Calafiori may not be available either. He is nursing a knee injury sustained on international duty.

Meanwhile, the Gunners will also be without Raheem Sterling for the first leg of the quarter-final tie.

The England international provided a quality assist for Leandro Trossard’s goal at Everton on Saturday.

Sterling was substituted at the half-time break and won’t play any part against Los Blancos tonight.

The Chelsea loanee was impressive in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie against PSV Eindhoven.

The game was a dead rubber with a 7-1 first-leg lead, but Sterling was the man of the match with two assists in a 2-2 draw.

Unfortunately, he picked up a yellow card in the 93rd minute of that game to stop Johan Bakayoko on the counter-attack.

As per UEFA’s official update, the £13 million-rated star is therefore suspended.

It was his third booking of the competition before the semi-final. This warrants a one-game ban.

Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber are also walking a tightrope.

The trio are on two yellow cards in the competition and will be suspended for the second leg at the Bernabeu if they are booked tonight.
