Nottingham Forest ready to make club-record offer for Arsenal target Matheus Cunha

Arsenal are looking to add a quality forward in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are bereft of options in attack following serious injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha.

But in a blow for Mikel Arteta’s side, Nottingham Forest have also entered the transfer race for the 25-year-old.

In fact, the Tricky Trees are ready to make a club-record offer to secure the services of the Brazil international, per Sky Sports.

Wolves have no intention to lose their prized asset midway through the season. But it is said that an offer worth around £60 million could tempt them into selling.

The West Midlands outfit are battling to survive in the Premier League, and Cunha is a crucial member of their first team.

With two-and-a-half-years remaining on the Brazilian’s contract, Wolves are said to be relaxed about the situation.

They are also not under financial pressure to sell the forward following the big transfers of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto in the summer.

Cunha in high demand

The Brazil international was a relatively unknown figure when he first came to Wolves in January 2023 on a loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause.

But his stocks have greatly increased since, as he has delivered consistently good performances for the Old Gold.

Despite playing in a struggling team, Cunha has already scored 10 goals in 21 top-flight appearances this campaign.

The fantastic forward is highly gifted and can operate in a variety of attacking roles. He can spearhead the attack as a striker and is also comfortable playing on both wings.

Cunha is highly rated for his dribbling, crossing, long shots and finishing ability.

Apart from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in him. However, a transfer in January is not likely to happen, as Wolves are clearly not interested in selling.
