Mikel Arteta provides injury update ahead of Bolton Wanderers game

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update ahead of the Carabao Cup third round tie against Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

The north London giants played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners were down to 10 men at the break, but they almost managed to secure a Premier League win until John Stones equalised in the 98th minute.

Arteta will want a good response against the Trotters tomorrow and ahead of the game, he said that there will be a few players not available for the game.

The Spaniard did not specify who could be sidelined, but acknowledged that there would be absentees.

Arteta told reporters: “I always prefer the facts to words than supposing things. Let’s see who is available tomorrow and then we can talk about dark arts.

“Unfortunately there will be a few players not available. Tomorrow you will find out.”

Arsenal have had a testing schedule since the international break with away trips to Tottenham Hotspur, Atalanta and Manchester City in the space of eight days.

The club now have home comfort for the next four games. They host Bolton, Leicester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Southampton over the next 11 days.

The onus will be on finding form and momentum. The Gunners should fancy beating Bolton, Leicester and Southampton. PSG could provide a stiff challenge.

Arteta is bound to make wholesale changes tomorrow after a tough outing with 10 men.

Young graduates Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly could make their full debuts.

Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Jakub Kiwior could feature from the off too.

16-year-old Jack Porter could make a shock debut in goal if David Raya is injured.

It remains to be seen whether Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber are fit, having been substituted against Pep Guardiola’s side with possible cramp.
