Arsenal handed boost as Martin Odegaard plays for Denmark vs Kazakhstan amid injury claim

Arsenal have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on September 15 after Martin Odegaard took to the pitch to feature for Norway against Kazakhstan in their UEFA Nations League game on Friday.

The Gunners captain was taken off in the 74th minute against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, as he was unable to shake off a blow to his ankle in the first-half.

While Odegaard was called up by his country for the games against Kazakhstan and Austria, Norway manager Stale Solbakken offered a worrying update on the injury status of the Arsenal star.

“I don’t think that’s what it is. I think it’s another bang, I was about to say,” Solbakken told Eurosport.

“I think it is something other than the bang, so to speak.”

The Norwegian manager suggesting that Odegaard had picked up another knock apart from the one he suffered against the Seagulls left Arsenal fans worried, but the 25-year-old has managed to shake it off.

He completed the game against Kazakhstan as Norway were held to a goalless draw and is expected to feature when they face Austria on Monday.

Odegaard is yet to score or assist this term and the derby will be a good game for him to open his account and help Arsenal leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.

The Gunners skipper will be available to face Spurs after the international break in a much-needed boost as Declan Rice and Mikel Merino are unavailable for selection.
