Arsenal are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have made only two new signings in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, but Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto has travelled for his medical this morning.
The club could also sign a versatile winger before today’s 11pm deadline.
Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman has been linked, but there has been no development regarding a transfer, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, he said: “The latest being reported by our colleague, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail is Kingsley Coman.
“My information is that that’s not one that’s developing, as things stand. Let’s see if that changes in the course of these last 24 hours.”
Arsenal could sign Raheem Sterling instead
The Gunners have been associated with moves for Coman and Raheem Sterling over the past 24 hours.
However, we believe the club are likely to pursue a deal for Sterling over the 2020 Champions League winner due to many reasons.
Coman has been largely injury prone throughout his career and he was sidelined for 25 games in the previous campaign with Bayern.
Meanwhile, Bayern may want a decent transfer fee for the 28-year-old. The Gunners don’t seem willing to spend before the window closes.
Coman, who is currently on £278,000 per week, may also need to accept a huge pay-cut to move to the Emirates Stadium in the coming hours.
In our opinion, the club could focus on landing Sterling instead, but a deal would also depend on the winger finding a solution with Chelsea.
Arsenal are unwilling to pay a transfer fee. The England international may have to mutually terminate his £325,000 per week contract with the Blues.
Otherwise, he could join the Gunners on loan with only wages involved. Either way, Arsenal have no plans of paying more than £150,000 per week.
It is left to be seen whether Arsenal make an attacking acquisition before today’s deadline.
