Simon Jordan convinced Arsenal will finally pip Manchester City to the Premier League title next season

Arsenal have missed out on the Premier League title in back-to-back seasons to Manchester City, and manager Mikel Arteta will once again attempt to win their first title since 2004 next term.

The Gunners finished two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side this season and were five points behind in 2022-23, and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes they can finally go one better in 2024-25.

Arsenal have already started working towards pipping Man City to the title, and Jordan is convinced they have learnt their lessons and will be ready to mount a stronger challenge next season.

“Yeah, I’ve sort of put my colours to the mast, I think Arsenal will win the Premier League,” he said on talkSPORT.

“I think there’s a natural progression. I think ultimately you’ve gone from 84 points to 89 points.

“You look at the weaknesses and you go, ‘We’ve got a Champions League campaign which we were moderately successful in so we’ve proven that we’ve got a squad that’s capable of competing on two fronts.’

“A couple of improvements, the manager’s involvement, a couple of tactical decisions they got wrong in games against Aston Villa and over the Christmas period, and they’re in business.”

Arsenal are expected to sign a forward capable of performing consistently well after the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah failed to impress, while adding another central midfielder is believed to be top of their plans.

However, they will need to sell before they can add quality additions to their squad, and the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson and the aforementioned duo are all on the market and could be sold.

The Gunners already have a solid squad but will need to further bolster their depth in all positions and hope their key players do not suffer any long-term injuries.

Being without Jurrien Timber for the whole of the campaign disrupted the plans of Arteta despite the quality options available in his position while an injury to William Saliba towards the end of 2022-23 proved costly, and a repeat of such next term is the last thing Arsenal want.
