Martin Odegaard returns to Arsenal training ahead of Bayern Munich clash

Arsenal have been handed an injury boost ahead of the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final fixture against Bayern Munich on Wednesday as Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard has returned to training.

The Gunners skipper was withdrawn in the closing stages of their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with manager Mikel Arteta telling reporters after the Premier League game that the substitution was because of an injury.

However, Odegaard is ready to return to action when Arsenal take on Bayern at Allianz Arena tomorrow as he was spotted alongside his teammates in training at Sobha Realty Training Centre.

Having played out a 2-2 draw with Bayern at home, the North Londoners will need to be on top of their game if they want to progress to the semi-final of the elite European competition, and having their captain available is a huge boost.

Odegaard has been their most creative player for a while, and being without his input in such an important game will be a massive blow.

Fortunately for Arsenal, he has not suffered a serious injury and he will be available for the trip to Germany and the remainder of the Premier League title run-in.

The North Londoners return to league action with a trip to Molineux Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, and they need to return to winning ways to keep their hopes of winning the title alive.

They need other results to go their way after falling two points behind Manchester City in the table if they are to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004, but the onus is on them to ensure they win their remaining six league games.
