Arsenal defender Ben White has signed a new and improved long-term contract with the North London club, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The former contract of the 26-year-old was due to expire in June 2026, but he has now committed his future to the Gunners after putting pen to paper on an extension.
An official announcement from Arsenal confirming the new deal for White is expected by the end of this week after both parties finally reached an agreement following months of talks.
The news will come as a boost for manager Mikel Arteta as the former Brighton & Hove Albion star has established himself as one of the key players in the club since joining in the summer of 2021.
White has featured in 27 Premier League games for Arsenal this term, starting 25 of them and weighing in with two goals and four assists.
The defender has featured at centre-back and recently at right-back, proving his versatility and quality in both positions.
White provided both assists as the Gunners ran out 2-1 winners over Brentford on Saturday, with his inch-perfect crosses from right-back proving very crucial.
It is why Arsenal were more than keen to extend his contract on better terms, and they will be glad to have done so ahead of the title run-in.
It should serve as a boost for the player and he will be willing to repay their trust in him by continuing to put in his very best every game.
Japan international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has also reportedly signed a new deal, and it appears Arsenal want to announce the two new contracts together.
The former Bologna star who has doubled his wages to about £100,000 a week last played for the Gunners on New Year’s Eve but is nearing a return to action having regained full fitness.
