Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has said that the Gunners are playing outstanding football at the moment but he cannot celebrate it until they win a trophy.
The Gunners continued their stunning Premier League form on Monday night. They cruised to a resounding 6-0 win over Sheffield United on the road.
The north London giants had five different scorers on top of an own goal. It was complete domination from the Gunners from the start to the finish.
Speaking after the game, Henry was impressed by the overall display over 90 minutes and said that they are playing outstanding football at the moment.
However, the Gunners favourite added that he cannot celebrate it until his former club end the campaign with some form of silverware.
He told Sky Sports (via BBC Sport): “Arsenal didn’t concede and had different scorers, but kept on playing the way Mikel Arteta wants to play.”
“We have had a discussion so many times if Arsenal are going to go for a big striker in the summer, but it’s a different discussion now.
“The way Arsenal are playing at the moment it is outstanding. But, if you don’t have a trophy with you at the end I cannot celebrate it.”
Arsenal need to win a trophy to answer critics
The Gunners have had an exceptional start to the calendar year in the Premier League, scoring 31 goals during their seven consecutive top-flight wins.
This has put them right in the title race alongside Liverpool and Manchester City. They are currently one point behind City and two adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Liverpool and City face each other at Anfield on Sunday. Arsenal go first against Brentford on Saturday and could be top of the table with another victory.
Despite this, there is still plenty of work to be done. Arsenal need to sustain their stellar form over the next 11 games to end their two-decade wait for the league title.
The club also have the chance to redeem themselves in the Champions League next week. They are trailing Porto 1-0 after the first leg of the Champions League last 16.
Arsenal are not favourites to win either competition at the moment. If they were to secure silverware this season, it would be a huge statement and would answer most critics.
