Wolverhampton Wanderers want over £60m for Arsenal target Pedro Neto

Wolverhampton Wanderers are holding out for a club-record fee of more than £60 million for Arsenal target Pedro Neto, according to the Evening Standard.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta and his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Ange Postecoglou are both long-term admirers of the Portuguese, but the North London duo are not the only clubs interested in recruiting his services this summer.

Liverpool are also keen on signing Neto, but suitors will need to part with a hefty fee as Wolves will demand more than the £53m they received from Manchester City for Matheus Nunes last summer.

The 23-year-old has more than three years left on his current contract, and the Molineux Stadium club are also in a strong position with Premier League profit and sustainability rules after making over £100m profit from player trading this season.

Neto has two goals and eight assists in 15 Premier League appearances this term and has remained a menace to opposition defences due to his blistering pace and dribbling abilities.

Arsenal are expected to sign at least one forward this summer, and the Wolves star fits the bill given his versatility.

He can play comfortably on both wings, through the middle and behind a striker, and it is clear to see why Arteta is a fan.

His deliveries when it comes to set-pieces and crosses are also excellent, and he is capable of keeping the Arsenal attackers on their toes.

Neto will be bringing both squad depth, cover and competition to the table if the Gunners manage to pip competition to his services, but meeting the demands of Wolves for a player not guaranteed a place in their starting XI could be tricky for them.
