View: Arsenal dealt blow as Manchester City accept offer from Al Nassr for Aymeric Laporte

Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow as Manchester City have accepted an offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr for Aymeric Laporte.

According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the Spain international centre-back is thought to be open to the possibility of a move, which would see the Gunners miss out on him.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal have the 29-year-old on their radar, but Man City are no longer interested in selling players to them after Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko joined the Gunners last summer.

The Premier League reigning champions are staying true to their words, and while it is unknown whether the North Londoners have made any attempt to sign Laporte, the Frenchman does not appear keen on joining them, with a better salary than what Man City are offering on the table at Al Nassr.

He could soon be joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana and Alex Telles at the club, and Arsenal need to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements if they need any.

Man City are no longer interested in strengthening any of their rivals after the roles Jesus and Zinchenko played in helping Arsenal challenge their old club in the title race last season.

Arsenal could look to sign another defender with Jurrien Timber facing months on the injury sidelines, while Gabriel Magalhaes has been linked with an exit.

Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba is one of the players on the Gunners’ radar, while Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi is also a target.

Arsenal are also keen on Joao Cancelo, but it appears the Portuguese is off to Barcelona having fallen out with Pep Guardiola.
