Gabriel Jesus says he feels good as Arsenal striker shares positive injury

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has offered an injury update after his side secured a victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening.

According to Evening Standard reporter Dom Smith, the Brazil international told reporters he is feeling good when he was asked about his recovery after the game.

Having Jesus at the game is a positive sign and he could be back in action sooner rather than later.

He is not back to full fitness yet, but the Arsenal star is looking good and manager Mikel Arteta will hope he can have him available as soon as possible.

The 26-year-old underwent surgery on a recurring knee injury a few days ago, and Arteta claimed he could be out for a few weeks.

The Arsenal boss delivered a positive update some days later, saying the injury is not as bad as it first appeared, and Jesus has since confirmed that.

The Gunners started the Community Shield with Kai Havertz as the number 9, while he moved to the wing when Eddie Nketiah came on later on in the game.

Arsenal begin the new Premier League season with a game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and the Germany international could feature as a striker too.

The North Londoners could look to add another forward to their attack before the summer transfer window shuts and have reportedly made an offer for Barcelona star Ansu Fati.

However, the Spaniard and his club have rejected their proposal and Arsenal now have to look elsewhere.

They are also set to lose United States international striker Folarin Balogun, with Inter Milan still very much interested in snapping him up.

The Gunners could end up not signing another forward if Jesus’ recovery goes quicker than planned.

He has been tipped to return to action after the September international break, with the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur seen as a very realistic return date.

However, the former Man City star could return earlier than scheduled, and Arsenal could do with him as soon as the new Premier League campaign starts.
