Inter Milan back for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, ready to do deal for €35m

Inter Milan have returned for talks with Arsenal for United States international striker Folarin Balogun, according to Sport Italia journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

The Serie A club are ready to do a deal for €35 million (£30m) and negotiations between both clubs are progressing.

Arsenal will be without first-choice striker Gabriel Jesus for a few weeks, but they plan to go ahead and sell Balogun.

The 22-year-old spent last term on loan at Ligue 1 club Reims, ending his spell in France with 22 goals across all competitions.

Balogun was in the Championship with Middlesbrough in 2021-22 but has told Arsenal he has no plans to leave on loan again.

He is set to be sold and Inter have been keen on him all summer after losing Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko.

Balogun recently told the North London club to drop their asking price as Inter feel the £45 million fee slapped on his head is too high for him.

Balogun reckons Arsenal are pricing him out of a move by adding £10m extra to what he believes his current worth in the transfer market is.

Arsenal insist their valuation is more than fair given his huge potential, and some at the club want £50m as a minimum for his signature.

They are unlikely to get their demands for the youngster, and while Inter want to do business for £30m, add-ons are included in the deal and they may be paying around £25m up-front.

The Gunners have spent around £208m on the signings of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber so far this summer, but they are not done and are looking to snap up Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

More outfield signings could also be made, but Arsenal need to sell players first and getting around £25m for Balogun will come in handy.
