Ruben Neves’ agent Jorge Mendes is looking to entice Arsenal into signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, reports the Sun.
The super agent is desperately trying to sell the Portuguese with an ambitious swap deal.
Barcelona have been linked with Neves, and his agent wants to execute a swap deal involving him and Ansu Fati.
However, his plans have hit the stumbling blocks as the Spain international is not keen on moving to Wolves.
Mendes is now looking elsewhere and is using Barca’s weak interest in Neves to ramp up attention from Arsenal.
The Gunners were previous potential suitors for the 26-year-old and did consider signing him.
However, they have moved on and are keen on signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
Arsenal also want Brighton & Hove Albion midfield sensation Moises Caicedo after missing out on him in January.
Manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his midfield as he aims to challenge for the Premier League title again next term.
Neves is out of contract next year but Wolves want £25 million for their captain.
He is also keen on leaving as he eyes playing Champions League football to boost his chances of making it to the 2024 European Championship.
Arsenal are confident of signing Rice and a deal is expected to be wrapped up in the coming weeks.
They could look to sign someone else if landing Caicedo proves tricky again.
However, whether the north London club are still interested in Neves remains to be seen.
He has what it takes to play for the Gunners, but it is up to Arteta and sporting director Edu to determine if he fits into their plans.
