Arsenal are set to be joined by Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Moussa Diaby, according to Evening Standard.
Well on course to finish at least second in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s men are expected to be fairly active in the upcoming transfer window
The Gunners acquired the services of Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion back in January but they have looked a little short of options in attack at times.
Arsenal will be looking to bolster their options at the top end of the pitch as they look to mount another title challenge next season.
Consequently, Diaby has been earmarked as a target after racking up an impressive 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this term – both of which are team highs.
Despite still having two years left on his contract at Bay Arena, Diaby could be on the move this summer with several clubs around Europe holding an interest.
Alongside Arsenal, Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for the Frenchman who is now reportedly wanted by former club PSG.
Diaby spent the 2018-19 season at Parc des Princes where he managed just four goals in 34 matches, most of which came off the bench.
The following summer saw him sold to Leverkusen for €15 million but the 23-year-old is now valued at €50m which is a testament to his great strides over the last four years.
Capable of playing anywhere across the frontline, Diaby’s versatility means that would be a shrewd addition to a young but capable Arsenal side.
With the first leg of a crunch Europa League clash against Roma to come later today, Diaby will be looking to put on a show for his current employers in their quest to reach a first European final in over two decades.
