Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is close to signing a new contract with the club, according to The Independent.
Saka’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2024 but his current employers are already working towards securing his long-term future to ward off interest from any potential suitors.
Racking up an impressive 13 goals and 11 assists in 35 league games so far, Saka has been a standout performer for Arsenal and is the only player in the top tier of English football to reach double figures for both goals and assists this term.
Unsurprisingly, the 21-year-old is a huge favourite to pick up the Young Player of the Season award alongside teammate Gabriel Martinelli.
Having credited Mikel Arteta for his stellar campaign, Saka will undoubtedly be keen to continue his development under the tutelage of the Arsenal manager, who has also been full of praise for his star attacker.
With Arsenal preparing to return to the Champions League for the first time in over five years, keeping hold of their biggest names is of utmost priority and tying Saka down to a new deal will certainly be a huge boost to the Gunners’ fanbase.
In the meantime, Arsenal will continue their pursuit of league glory as they look to end a 19-year drought since their last title.
Having recently relinquished their leadership of the Premier League, Arsenal are faced with the huge task of usurping defending champions Man City at the top of the standings with just three matches left to play.
Following a crucial 2-0 victory over Newcastle United last time out, the north Londoners moved within one point adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men, albeit having played a game more.
Arsenal’s next involvement sees them welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates Stadium in their penultimate home game of the 2022-23 season.
