Arsenal are ready to present an offer for Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport (Page 19).
The north London giants have had a brilliant Premier League campaign and they are currently eight points ahead of Manchester City with 10 games left.
Regardless of how the season ends, manager Mikel Arteta will be backed with funds to invest and we won’t be surprised if an attacker is one of the priorities.
Corriere dello Sport now claim the Gunners would like to enter negotiations for Diaz and they are ‘ready to present an offer’ to Los Blancos if possible.
At the moment, AC Milan have the option to buy Diaz for €22 million but the club are reluctant to pay the fee and are hoping to secure a discount from Madrid.
This is where Arsenal could benefit. The Gunners are being backed to capitalise, particularly if the Rossoneri fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Mikel Arteta could get the best out of Diaz
Diaz is currently in his third campaign with the Rossoneri, but has not been overly impressive.
He has shown glimpses of his quality but has contributed only 16 goals and 10 assists from 110 outings.
Hence, there are no surprises that the Rossoneri are reluctant to trigger the buy clause. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta appears keen on bringing him to north London.
Arteta knows Diaz well from his time as Manchester City’s assistant. The Spaniard will have monitored Diaz’s progress when he was in the first team for three seasons.
The 23-year-old never got a fair chance before his move to the Bernabeu but he could get a second opportunity in the Premier League with the Gunners next term.
Arteta has played a huge part in Martin Odegaard’s recent development into an elite playmaker and in our view, he could unearth the full potential of Diaz too.
Diaz does not come with the same reputation as Odegaard from Madrid, but could still evolve into a top-class forward with his ability to play anywhere in attack.
